Returns


We are happy to accept your return for items purchased on line through byustore.com or in our Provo campus store. Follow instructions below. No return authorization is needed.

+General merchandise RETURNS
  • General Merchandise items

    Items must be returned within 90 days of shipping date to receive credit. Returned items must be in new and resalable condition. Merchandise should be in original packaging and have all the tags and stickers intact or included. Please include order number or invoice with return.

    Perishable Items

    Any perishable items like fudge or chocolate covered cinnamon bears are not eligible for return. Special ordered items (i.e. country flags, CTR rings, and graduation stoles) are not eligible for return.

    Books

    No broken binding or creased pages. Any item that has been specially engraved is not returnable.

    Apparel

    Do not return washed or worn items unless defective.

    Special Order Items

    Special ordered items (i.e. embroidered apparel, special requests, unusually large quantities specially ordered) are not eligible for return.

+COMPUTER PRODUCT RETURNS
  • Hardware

    Computer hardware must be returned within 15 days of shipping date to receive full refund.

    Opened Items

    Any computer item that has been opened is not accepted for a return. If you feel the item is defective call the Computer Department at 1-800-253-2578 option #3 then #7 or 801-422-7119.

+TEXTBOOK RETURNS
  • DEADLINE TO RETURN FOR 100% CREDIT

    Return through the Saturday after the BYU add/drop deadline.

    CRITICAL ITEMS TO OBSERVE

    1. Keep all receipts.
    2. Do not use or scratch any part of an access code.
    3. Do not mark or damage any new materials.
    4. Do not remove plastic wrapping.
    5. Orders placed after add/drop deadline are not returnable for full credit.

    HOW TO RETURN TEXTBOOKS?

    - All purchased or rented textbooks and course materials are returnable for 100% credit through the Saturday after the add/drop deadline for each semester as long as the items under the "Critical items to observe" list above are followed. Text orders placed after the add/drop deadline are not returnable for full credit.
    - Bring your textbooks and receipt in person to the BYU Store upper level textbook info desk.
    - After the return deadline textbooks may not be returned for full credit. However, purchased textbooks can be sold back any day at the upper level textbook info desk. See Textbook Rental Returns section below for rental returns.
    - Other questions about textbook and course materials returns can be answered in person at the upper level textbook info desk or by calling (801)422-2400 and selecting option #2 during business hours.

+TEXTBOOK RENTAL RETURNS (CHECK-INS)
  • RENTAL CHECK-IN

    “Check-in” means returning your rented book after use, usually at end of term.

    DEADLINE FOR RENTAL CHECK-IN

    - Rented textbooks must be checked in by the Saturday after finals, end of business day, to avoid further charges.
    - You do not need to wait until end of term. You can check in your rented book as soon as you're done with it to avoid lines and check it off your list.

    HOW DO I CHECK IN MY RENTED TEXTBOOKS?

    Check in your rented books to the BYU Store upper level textbook info desk. Can't come in person? Send your books with a friend or ship rented books back to the store using this printable return address label: https://www.byustore.com/site/product_images/shipping-label-rental-returns.pdf.

    WILL I GET A FREE PRE-PAID SHIPPING LABEL?

    No, you will not receive a free pre-paid shipping label to return books for check-in.

    CAN I BUY MY RENTED BOOK INSTEAD OF CHECKING IT BACK IN?

    Yes, we’ll simply charge you the difference between the rental price you paid and the purchase price of the book as you let us know before the rental check-in deadline above. Come in person to the BYU Store upper level textbook info desk or call (801)422-2400 and select option #3 for the textbook info desk.

+TEXTBOOK SELLBACK
  • SELL BACK YOUR TEXTBOOKS

    You can sell any unneeded textbooks back to the BYU Store. Bring your used textbooks to the store’s 3rd floor customer service desk to sell back. The store buys your textbooks if they are being used in future Provo campus classes. Come to the store to check sell-back pricing. Sell-back is in person only (no remote sellback).

    DATES OF TEXTBOOK SELL-BACK

    You can sell back your textbooks every day during our regular business hours at the BYU Store upper level Textbook Information Desk. The store may pause textbook sell-back during high-volume text rush periods.


+SHIPPING COSTS
  • RETURN SHIPPING COST IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

    Return shipping cost is at the customer's expense unless items are defective or it is determined that the BYU Store is in error. For defective returns or BYU Store errors, BYU Store will credit the customer's return shipping cost (not to exceed published FedEx Ground shipping rates).
