Brandon's first brush with death came when he was just twelve years old: he crashed his bicycle and suffered a traumatic brain injury that should have killed him. He would go on to miraculously survive three more life-threatening events but would not come away completely unscathed. One incident left the once active and athletic Brandon paralyzed from the chest down.

Brandon's life story appears to be unfair, but he has always fought to keep that idea from weighing him down and taking over.
