Details

From the beginning of the Restoration, Black Americans have responded to the call of the Lord to gather into His Church. My Lord, He Calls Me is a new essay compilation by active Black American latter-day Saints, most of whom had ancestors who were brought to the United States from Africa and enslaved. These essays profess deep faith in Christ, provide inspirational on being led by the Holy Spirit, and offer sacred truths on maintaining faith while overcoming challenges, including racism.

Though denied full access to the priesthood and temple ordinances until 1978, there have always been faithful Black members of the Church of Jesus Christ dedicated to sharing their testimonies and building the kingdom of the Lord. The contributors on this collection include members both young and old, from various parts of the United States, and from the earliest days of the Church to now. They share their conversion stories, spiritual experiences, and why they remain in the Church. Their perspectives and experiences are varied, but they are all united by a common thread of resilient spirituality and faith in the Lord.
Hard cover.
