What makes this image different for me is that when I painted it, along with an image of Joseph and Jesus, I was able to find some new parents and a beautiful young baby that could model for Joseph, Mary, and Jesus. There was something very special in filming this genuine earthly family. I loved the true tenderness that was expressed between the three of them, which made it very easy for me to translate the photographs into what I hope are tender and touching paintings.”
