When President Russel M. Nelson bore this testimony in the Rome Italy Youth Devotional, he was doing what all Presidents of the Church had done before him. As a prophet of God, he bore witness of our Lord and Savior. From Joseph Smith on, the latter-day prophets have all proclaimed that Jesus is the Christ and the Son of God. Unlike other testators, they have spoken from a unique position, as personal witnesses with a personal knowledge of the Savior and as leaders of the Lord's Church, working under His direction.
