Details

We are pleased to share the latest work of Jan as he introduces us to his interest in French literature, in particular Marcel Proust and Paul Valéry among others of his favorites. We learn how he came to be involved in this passion and we discover that he read the eight volumes of “A La Recherche du Temps Perdu” focusing briefly on passages that caught his attention and responding with alacrity as his enjoyment boiled over. It is a unique view of Proust’s famous work that catches many of the nuances often overlooked by traditional scholars. In this volume, we find much about his reading of Paul Valéry’s “La Jeune Parque”. The brief autobiographical sketch “Stephen’s Way” is revealing, and written as a poet may have remembered his youth. Of course, there are also marvelous creative poems in ECLECTIC MIND and HE STUDIED CREATIVE IMPULSE; you surely will find a few favorites to enjoy. Jan’s uniqueness as a Latter-day Saint poet is, each day, more fully recognized by many of his peers.
